A little bit of progress here with my first Tékumel-style naval vessel: The original mini is a Xyston Hellenistic Quinquireme, which can be seen in its original form here.  In its Tékumel form, it shall be a Tsolyáni Qél.  I have changed around the deck somewhat as compared to the original, and readers of long standing will also notice that yet again I have changed my mind about the masts!!!

The first 5 of my Hlutrgú warband are finally complete: I tried to give a little variation in the minis by slightly bending the arms and legs.  The metal used is a bit bendy and the pose can be altered just by using hand pressure.  I used some artistic license to alter the coloration also; three of the Hlutrgú above have splotches, and one is very pale in comparison - a young Hlutrgú in my

One small detail that I should have noted in my previous post: The vast majority of my Tékumel minis are mounted on 7/8" fender washers - which is unfortunately a really odd size and I kind of regret it.  Litko and others sell large bases for 1" or 20mm rounds; 7/8" is right in the middle of those two sizes.  I am not really desiring to rebase yet again but it might be the only way. .

There has been an obstacle to my finishing of miniatures lately - varnishing. I have been unable, for some time now, to use spray paint/primer/varnish due to the fumes and also the lack of a proper place for spraying. Just a quick update - things are a bit quiet here hobby-wise, with the work schedule warming up and now a sore and swollen left knee. Just a brief update:Slowly the First Legion takes form. I have started work on some archers, and the last of the spear-armed troops are nearing completion. I have decided not to convert the rest of the spearmen into swordsmen, with the exception of the one figure in the back row on the right.Now this force just needs a priest or three and it will be all set..

Another brief update...I have started to modify some of my Ever Present Glory troopers from carrying spears to swords. Here is a pic of the very first horse I have done in 28mm:Wow, not nearly done yet, but it is getting there. I used a mix of Daler and Rowney Burnt Umber ink and 50% Future and coated the entire horse except the saddle. Recently, I placed an order with The Warstore for some paints to use with my WW1 naval project (see my other blog), and The Warstore was offering a special - a free set of the brand-new 28mm plastic Ancient Germans from Wargames Factory. I am continuing to flit from rules-set to rules-set as I continue to work on my Tékumel project...Since Basic Impetus, as a historical gaming set, does not have a magic system, I have been sifting through my other rules to help create a simple battle magic system. I sat down over the week-end and hashed out some of the basic unit formations that are typically used in Tékumeli battles and attempted to convert them over to the Impetus basing system. Hmmm, tis the season!We (Feawin and I) made another change around this place - we have left Azeroth and migrated back to Norrath.  In simpler words, we have gone back to playing Everquest2 and have left World of Warcraft.  Why?  There were several reasons, but one of the main items was the continued slide of WoW towards what appears to be universal PvP (player vs. player) gaming.  If we wanted

I just received an e-mail from my son (Taeklonn) - he won the Best Sportsman award at the Games Workshop GT at Conquest NW, here in Seattle!
